Environmental pollution, which has started since the first formation of our world, has exceeded the tolerable level due to the increase in human population and excessive industrialisation. In particular, the increase in the use of fossil fuels for energy production with the Industrial Revolution that started in the 18th century has been one of the most crucial factors triggering environmental pollution. The subsequent rapid consumption of natural resources, the waste generated as a result of excessive consumption, and the difficulties encountered in managing these wastes have maximised the damage caused to the environment. Furthermore, the development of synthetic products, along with their uncontrolled use without considering their environmental impact, has exacerbated these problems. Today, the unsustainability of this adverse development path has been proven multiple times. Consequently, in these current days where the foundations of the information age are being laid, the demand for accurate technical information and technology for the sustainable use of natural resources has reached undeniable and significant proportions. With this approach, our Environmental Protection and Control program provides both theoretical and practical training focused on environmental management, environmental protection strategies, the solution and control of environmental problems arising from water, air, and soil pollution, as well as the sustainable use of natural resources.

Duration of Education |
The Environmental Protection and Control Program is an associate degree program aimed at providing academic and professional competences. Our program comprises a 2-year education period consisting of 4 semesters. Students graduate from the program by completing a total of 120 ECTS credits, on the condition of taking 30 ECTS credits of courses each semester. Students who qualify for graduation are awarded an associate degree diploma in the Environmental Protection and Control Program. |
|
Graduate Title and Career Opportunities |
Students who successfully complete their education receive an associate degree diploma with the title of "Environmental Technician". Employment Opportunities and Fields of Activity: Our graduates can work in public institutions as well as private organizations, and they can be employed in all fields that require environmental technicians. The primary fields of activity include: • Public institutions and organizations providing environmental protection and control services, • Environmental and waste management units of health and industrial organizations, • Laboratories performing environmental pollution detection and analysis, • Authorized institutions and organizations providing environmental consultancy services. Additionally, our graduates can vertically transfer to undergraduate programmes in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, and Biology via the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). |
|
Fields of Interest and Objectives of the Program |
Objective of Our Program: Our objective is to meet the need for technical intermediate staff educated in environmental protection and control by raising our graduates as technicians who possess professional theoretical knowledge and practical application skills, use information and communication technologies proficiently, follow and implement emerging technologies, grasp the importance of lifelong professional development, and act in accordance with professional ethics. |

Course Content of the Program |
The content of the education provided in the Environmental Protection and Control Program is based on an interdisciplinary curriculum that merges a strong theoretical foundation with laboratory and field applications. Within the scope of the curriculum spread across four semesters, students learn ecosystem balances and pollution mechanisms thoroughly through courses such as general environmental science, environmental chemistry, environmental biology, and ecology, alongside fundamental sciences. In addition to solution-oriented specialized courses such as air pollution and its control, water quality and treatment, soil pollution, solid waste management, and hazardous wastes, students can take courses in computer-aided drawing, geographic information systems (GIS), and information technologies to complement the technical dimension of their education. Competence in legal and administrative processes is ensured through courses on environmental legislation, quality assurance and standards, and environmental impact assessment. This versatile course content enables students to graduate as fully equipped environmental technicians who can think analytically in professional life, conduct technical measurements and analyses, and apply environmental policies to the sector. |
